Cheap Clothing Companies on Instagram are a Scam, Bellelily.com

Recently, I purchased a shirt from a clothing designer advertising on Instagram. They had a lot of cute clothes on their website. Many of these companies popped up during the pandemic selling shirts, blouses, skirts, shoes, and all kinds of clothing. It was a lot easier to pick out clothing online than set foot into a store. This shirt had a stylish flair with crocheted arms and bright colors. I loved it because we are dipping into winter and though I’d purchase something warm.

I received the package after 2 weeks of waiting. It says this company is located on the east coast, so I just assumed it was because of the delays in shipping. Nope. They’re definitely coming from China. Once I received the package, I immediately felt regret for purchasing the shirt. It was sized like a medium. I ordered a small. I’m a tiny person. There’s no way I’m going to wear a big oversized shirt.

I reached out to Bellelily immediately and they did not respond for 48 hours. I received an email back in broken English asking for a picture and my measurements. I said I just wanted a refund. They responded again saying it’s too expensive to ship the clothing back and I would have to pay for that. If a product is not represented the same as on a website, then why would that expense be mine? Now I’m begging Paypal to give me a refund for a product I cannot use. What ever you do, don’t order from Bellelilly, or if you do, make sure you are positive about the size you’re ordering.

Beware what you order online. There are a lot of companies in China advertising and scamming people. Once you’ve received the product, there’s not reason for them to issue you a refund and no way to pursue a refund from them. Paypal tends to favor the vendor over the person purchasing. Just keep that in mind. It’s like playing the lottery, especially if it’s an expensive product.
